Vivicare
(To bring to life) 1-3
This special
presentation of black and white photographs by Eric Beldowski
captures with subtle humour a spectrum of wonderful moments which
could only occur in a city such as Rome; the city to which all
roads lead. Eric's camera in turn has led him to celebrate the
joy of the Roman spring in a city where layers of life walk on
stones which were walked on by lovers of life for century after
century.
Still felt
by many to be the center of the world, Rome is a unique metropolis
where deals are made at every coffee bar, feral cats sunbathe
on ancient ruins, and Gypsies perform in the marketplaces. VIVIFICARE
brings to life 400 year old marble carved to fluid perfection
in folds of fabric on transcendent bodies, lovers sharing gelati
on ancient stone staircases, and manicured avenues leading to
museums filled with the priceless work of master painters and
sculptors.
Flora 4-5
From a lonely
Trillium in an Ontario forest to a field of tulips in Holland,
this presentation of colour photographs by Eric Beldowski captures
flowers in all their brilliance and glory. You can almost smell
the intoxicating fragrance of the roses flourishing one summer
in Rome. Herbs and spices in Ontario not only enhance the flavour
of our lives, but in close-up, reveal the complexity and diversity
of nature. Walk among the mountain flora on the hills of Switzerland
- their delicacy and vibrant colour a striking contrast to their
grey and rugged habitat. Special infrared experiments give roses
an intense new look, and let us see the roses as the insects do.
Then let yourself giggle with the pansies in a field of dreams.
These photographs are powerful triggers, eliciting emotions from
one's own experience of flowers. Eric's photographs have caught
elements in nature from a simple petal to a garland of buds. His
eye sees beyond the flowers' shape and colour and reveals their
individual characters, from exotic and erotic to playful and comic.
