'RITES/CUSTOMS' IN TWO TORONTO VENUES

The Danielson Gallery and Riverside cafe<>bistro are pleased to announce two solo exhibitions by Toronto artist Peeter Sepp, held in conjunction with esto2000, the Estonian World Festival in Toronto. In 'rites / tavandid' Sepp shows paintings at the Danielson Gallery from July 1 to 22 and in 'customs /kombed' he shows drawings at the Riverside cafe<>bistro from June 22 to July 9, 2000.

Sepp has been active in the Toronto arts community for over 25 years and is co-founder of the Estonian Folk Religion Interest Group and Friends of Baltic Folklore in Toronto.


Both exhibits present works based on ancient Estonian traditions, rituals,and ceremonies which honour nature.Through vivid representations on paper and canvas, Sepp demonstrates his belief that

"it is
a human phenomena that some customs and rites confirm our unity with nature and have helped us to build a more sustainable earth community".


The Danielson Gallery is located at 80 Spadina, Suite 201 and the Riverside cafe<>bistro at 730 Queen Street East.
