BIOGRAPHY
Nathan Turner was raised in the small English seaside town of Broadstairs in
Kent County. In the summer of 1989, at the age of thirteen, he moved with his family
to Canada. They made their home in Kitchener, Ontario where Nathan entered high school
at Grand River Collegiate Institute. Following his graduation in 1994 he enrolled
in an intensive one-year leadership training institute at Koinonia Christian Fellowship,
where he and his wife, Cecile, are actively involved in teaching youth and serve
in a number of leadership roles. It is Nathan’s personal faith in Christ that is
the source of inspiration for both his life and his artwork.
In 1995 Nathan began his studies at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario.
While completing his bachelor degree in Fine Arts, Nathan received a number of awards
and scholarships for his artistic and academic achievements. He also enjoyed many
unique experiences during his studies at the U of W, including the opportunity to
have his artwork placed on a Bell Canada phone card, and to take part in the creation
of a trans-Canada exhibition of student artwork.
Since graduating from university Nathan has enjoyed continued success in winning
awards and prizes for his work. Among these are two Best Drawing Awards from the
Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition and the Leading Edge Award for outstanding achievement
in the arts in Kitchener-Waterloo. His original artwork and prints are presently
in a number of countries, including England, Canada, Holland, Mexico, New Zealand
and the United States. Nathan is currently working as an independent professional
artist in Waterloo, Ontario. Though he teaches drawing classes and works on private
and corporate commissions, the majority of Nathan’s time is spent developing new
work for upcoming exhibitions.
