10 PRIZEWINNERS SELECTED
@7th ARTFOCUS FALL ARTIST'S SHOW
@ BCE PLACE GALLERIA IN TORONTO

TORONTO- Ten artists were selected for awards from a talented & eclectic group of 30 exhibitors at the ARTFOCUS 7TH ANNUAL FALL ARTIST’S SHOW in The Galleria of BCE Place, October 20-23, l998.

Jurors Richard Citroen (Evicta Gallery), Stephen Bulger (Stephen Bulger Photography Gallery) & Matthew Bennett, independent artist/curator, were invited to choose Awardwinners for the best in each media.

Artist's Awards were donated by prominent art supply stores & manufacturers including Woolfitt’s, Ultrecht Acrylics, Binney & Smith, Winsor & Newton, Staedtler-Mars, R & F Encaustics, Gwartzmans, Henry’s & Korner Color Photos Supplies, McGraw Hill Publishing & Artfocus.

Awardwinners were: Oksana Movchan, Best in Show & Best in Printmaking; Sybil Cohos, Best in Acrylic; Peter Moreton, 2nd in Acrylic; Alexandre Evgrafov, Best in Oils; Marilyn Pike, Best in Watercolour; Melanie Day, Best in Mixed Media; Elilija Pasagic, Best in Encaustics; Elizabeth Jackson, Best in Drawing; Pamela Williams,1st in Photography & Allan Rae, 2nd in Photography.

The show included a striking group of invitational sculptures by British-born Richard McNeill, head of sculpture at The Art Centre of Central Technical School, Toronto & Vice-President of the Sculptor’s Society of Canada.

The opening party was enlivened with saxaphone solos by Fred Spek of The Mood Swingers & issue signings by Kongol Nate, ARTFOCUS fall'98 cover artist.
